Recently CPI was contacted by PG&E, a major California utility company for using our switches in a fairly unique application. We’ve dubbed this application “Plungers on Poles”.

Safe, Reliable Breaker Detection

Once Again, CPI switches garnered the attention of engineers at PG&E owing to the rugged, environmentally hardened nature of our sealed mechanical design. In this case, our J4311 ball switch was used in an application designed to detect the state of circuit breakers on electric towers. This is the same design used in our Plunger Switches, just the actuator is different. Deployed properly, the switch acts as detection on high power circuit breakers, helping utility companies isolate power failures or other electrical grid events, to a single pole or single feed within that pole. The potential benefit in terms of time to isolate faults and restore power during an outage, could be significant.

Use of our J4311 provides a number of benefits in this application:

  1. Hardened solution for long term exposure to elements in a place not easy to reach (Tower)
  2. Impervious to wide swings in temperature, over all the area’s covered by PG&E in both the cold north and burning south of the state.
  3. Our switch is a passive device so no power required, ideal for an application where loss of power is the whole problem we’re trying to assist with.
  4. Patented ball carrier design with double seal prevents contact contamination and icing in very cold temperatures.

Bad poetry aside, this really is a switch that’s hard to kill. When you need to put your switch somewhere that’s hard to service, or in a critical safety application, or both, CPI electromechanical endurance ratings of up to 1 million cycles should put you at ease that you won’t need to be climbing any poles on our account.

Delta’s SMPM-T connectors are the perfect choice for applications requiring high frequencies in demanding environments involving vibration or temperature extremes.

SMPM-T Design Features

They have a threaded retractable nut, combined with SMPM Mil-STD-348 female interface giving these connectors superior mechanical and electrical capabilities. Our SMPM-T connectors have unparalleled mechanical and electrical ability to maintain 65 GHz through severe environmental conditions. Centerline-to-centerline spacing as low as 5mm (0.20 in) is achievable, and Delta’s unique tooling options allow for simple mating and unmating of the threaded interface.

Delta’s SMPM-T connectors are available for use with Semi Rigid, Conformable and Flexible .047 and .086 cable termination options. The connectors & cable assemblies are both RoHS & REACH compliant. SMPM-T Cable Assembly Options

SMPM-T’s are designed to be terminated to semi-rigid, conformable and flexible .047 and .086 cable types. The interface selected on the opposing end of the assembly will determine the frequency range the assemblies will be rated. The maximum rating is 65 GHz, when matched with another SMPM-T or SMPM. Typical connectors that could be matched to the cable assembly opposing side, include SMA, SMP, SMK {2.92}, etc…

The SMPM-T is compatible with Delta’s industry MIL-STD-348 SMPM male receptacles,
which includes Corning Gilbert’s GPPO®.

Delta’s .047 and .086 SMPM-T cable assemblies perform through 65 GHz, with the added benefit of the threaded coupling.

The SMPM-T cable assembly opposing end may be matched and terminated, utilizing numerous standard coaxial interfaces: SMA, SMP, SMPM, SMPM-T, SMK (2.92), etc…

If the .047 flexible cable option is selected, additional gains will be accomplished. They are:

Dornier Seawings SEASTAR.

IPP is very proud to have been selected by COMTRONIC to supply twelve customized rotary switches and potentiometers per plane to be used in the newly developed Dornier Seawings New Generation SEASTAR. The first order for kit sets has been placed and shipped in 2019. The first environmental tests have been performed successfully beginning of 2020. The Qualification and the FAA- and EASA-Certification are planned to take place later this year.

 The New Generation SEASTAR Aircraft is engineered to operate from runway and water surfaces. It can perform airport to airport missions with its short field take-off and landing capabilities. At the same time, it is able to take-off and land on water, even under rough conditions. This unrivalled versatility and performance along with best-in-class cabin space, allows for entirely new missions.

We are looking for a Technical Sales Manager for the UK and Scandinavia to support our European expansion. You live in Spain, Italy or the Benelux.

You want to spend at least 50% of your time with customers and chasing prospects in the UK & Scandinavia. So you are used to international travelling.

IPP BV and Thales NL met today at IPP’s Santpoort-Zuid head office to sign a new Framework Agreement.

This Framework Agreement replaces the one signed by both parties in 2012 and will guide our business partnership for the coming years. In attendance were two partners from Thales and three people from IPP. Roel Degenhardt (IPP Sales Manager) and Jan Jaap Mook (Thales Subcontract Manager) are both happy with the new agreement and both are very optimistic about our future, continued partnership.

Freccia 8x8 Medium Armoured Vehicle

Recently, the contract for the purchase of the “Freccia” 8×8 Medium Armoured Vehicles (5 in Combat version and 25 in Anti-tank version) with ten years integrated logistics support was signed.

This contract marks the resumption of the supply of vehicles to the Italian Army Second Medium Brigade, a unit based on 381 systems in various configurations.

The “Freccia” VBM is an 8×8 Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle in variousversions (Combat, Anti-tank, Mortar Carrier and Command Post) and represents the result of highly-technological synergies between the Technical Area, the Operative Area of the Ministry of Defence and the Italian Industry.
