Cristek’s standard offering of SMP and SMPM connectors includes the full range of launch options. Its rapidly expanding SMA product line was designed initially for difficult environments and with an eye to minimizing variability during assembly to precision cable. Our unique ability to package high-frequency, low-loss contact systems into the dame connector system as 24-330 AWG signal contacts sets us apart by optimizing package size and performance.

The SMP connector is a multi-functional, miniature, high frequency, push-on connector that can be adaptable for use in wide variety of high reliability applications. This connector is suitable for applications ranging from hermetic modules to backplanes. The multitude of configurations and styles provide specifically tailored solutions for a wide range of cabled and module to module assemblies. A unique feature of this connector is the ability to install cable assemblies with minimal movement. The floating connector feature provides a maximum allowance for misalignment. Unlike other push-on type connectors, the frequency range of the connector is not self limited by its push-on, blind mate features. These robust connectors are designed to mate tightly and maintain performance through 40 GHz.

The SMPM connector, which is 30% smaller than its cousin, the SMP, has similar features and applications. This is a multi-functional high frequency push-on connector suitable for use in a variety of applications. This ultra miniature connector can be used for applications ranging from hermetic modules to backplanes, and because of its diminutive size, it is ideal for “gang” or multi-connector configurations. Unlike other push-on type connectors, the frequency range of the connector is not limited by the push on, blind mate construction. These deceptively robust connectors are designed to mate tightly and maintain performance through 65 GHz.

SMA is an acronym for SubMiniature version A and they were developed in the 1960’s. These 50Ω SMA connectors are semi-precision, subminiature units that provide excellent electrical performance from DC to 26 GHz. They are high-performance connectors in a compact size with outstanding mechanical durability.

Greyhound Ultimate Performance Cable

Like its high performance, four-legged namesake, the Cristek Greyhound flexible cable series provides the ultra-performance! Combining phase stability over flexure and temperature with the lowest insertion loss at high frequency these cables come up winners in the most demanding situations. For laboratory and test however, we recommend the nearly equivalent performance and lower cost “Labrador” series.

Labrador Ultra Performance Cable

The Labrador is a tremendously athletic, energetic, smart and breed of dog that adapts to nearly any situation. Labrador cables perform nearly as well as Greyhounds in most situations and are lowest cost. They should be the first choice for test and measurement applications but if phase stability over temperature and flex is required the Greyhound is the better selection.

Bullmastiff Defender Cable

The Labrador series adapted and modified to include a variety of armoring and protective options is named for the Bullmastiff. At its core is an intelligent and docile dog that exhibits extreme toughness when threatened. Bullmastiff cables protect your gear from moisture, UV light and other outdoor threats. They can repel abrasive environments introduced through high vibration as well as having an added layer of fire resistance. Available with better than 300 PSI of pressure, they can be ordered to resist crushing due to foot traffic, light vehicle. Cables ordered with the armor have the added benefit of kink resistance and improved RF shielding.

German Shepherd Improved RG Performance Cable

The German Shepherd is a loyal, bold and courageous dog; confident, fearless and a quick learner. As the world number one choice for police and military and one of the most popular breeds chosen by families in the United States, it is a true all around “workhorse” dog. That is why we named Cristek’s improved RG flexible cables after this all around top notch dog breed. Shepherd cables take advantage of standard RG cable materials but incorporate an improved outer conductor construction. These cables operate to 18 GHz while their standard RG316 counterparts top out at 3 GHz. Shielding effectiveness is increased from the 60 db average of RG316 to 95dB with an associated 15% improvement in insertion loss.

Dachshund Semi-Rigid Replacement Cable

We are not sure why we named these cables after the Dachshund, except that we know that small dog lovers would never forgive us if we overlooked this fiercely loyal, cute and comedic breed. The Dachshund brand of cables are our lowest cost series because they combine the use of off-the-shelf connectors designed for semi-rigid cable with basic performance flexible cable.

Terrier Semi-Rigid RG Cables

There are more terrier and terrier derivative breeds than one can count. Each one is unique and loaded with personality. Like terriers, the configurations of semi rigid RG cables seem to be endless. They also tend to be taken for granted. Cristek brings strict process discipline to the fabrication of basic RG semi rigid cables. Bulldog RG Flexible Cables

Bulldogs score the lowest on ease-of-training and intelligence – kind of like your basic RG flexible cable. This leap in high reliability and high contact density was well suited for the future demand in high-speed signals, reduction in board packaging, and weight savings.

The combination of current industry trends with advances in flexible and rigid printed circuit technology has driven an increase in demand for Nano miniature connectors. These nano miniature connectors are suitable for use in implantable medical devices, hearing aids, prosthetics, computers, petroleum industry, vision equipment, control systems, missiles, satellites, and space probes.

Cristek Nano miniature connectors utilize the same reverse gender contact system described in Section 1.0; however, the contacts in the Nano are 30 AWG whereas the Micros are 24 AWG. Cristek Nano miniature connectors are available in plastic and metalized packages; in strip, D style and circular layouts; in wire, through hole PCB, and surface mount PCB termination versions.

As a niche supplier, our focus on this high-reliability, ultra-density micro miniature connector product enables us to consistently provide our customers with the best value solutions for their demanding applications.

The advantages of the Micro concept are impressive. By halving the contact center spacing from 0.109″ to .050″, the contact density is increased fourfold. That means that in roughly the same panel space a user of a 25 contact D-Subminiature connector can get 100 Micro contact

Standard and High Density D-Subminiature Connectors – High reliability for military, avionics, space and industrial applications.

Cristek Interconnects offers one of the most comprehensive lines of high reliability D-Subminiature connectors available for military, avionics, space and high reliability industrial applications.

Product overview:

Standard density d-subminiature connectors, 20 AWG layouts with 9, 15, 25, 37 and 50 contacts.

High density d-subminiature connectors, 22 AWG with 15, 26, 44, 62, 78 and 104 contacts are available as well as several custom and combination versions.

All d-subminiature connectors may be manufactured with crimp, solder cup, straight PCB and right angle PCB terminations (except solder cup terminations on High Density configurations).

MOTS and MIL-DTL-24308 style d-subminiature connectors are offered along with products compliant with GSFC S311-P-4, P-10, JPL CS512091, ASTM E-595 and NASA-RP-1124.

Applications requiring environmentally sealed and EMI filtered d-subminiature versions that can withstand jet fuel, water immersion and deep space are available. Further protection may be provided by incorporating rear sealing grommets or full encapsulation in the termination area to resist moisture intrusion during service and/or to resist flux entrapment during soldering. Stainless steel, brass and aluminum shell materials and alternative finishes to cadmium and zinc are often used. Shells may be ordered with dimples to provide EMIIESD ground paths. Parts can also be purchased as part of a harness assembly incorporating other connector products. Connector savers and other accessories are also offered.

Miniaturized Circular Connectors are ideal for applications where an ultra-miniature I/O connector is needed.

Cristek offers a broad line of the smallest, high reliability, miniaturized circular connectors available today. The panel-mounted connectors are ideal for applications where an ultra-miniature I/0 connector is needed for your box. These circular connectors can be purchased to protect against fluid immersion and most have excellent EMI shielding characteristics.

Small circular connectors are ergonomically desirable for human interface. Ranges of coupling/decoupling choices are available depending on the application. All cable connectors can be supplied with strain relief/EMI adapter backshells for customer cable termination and/or molding or alternatively, Cristek can fabricate a turnkey cable specifically engineering to meet your circular connector needs.

Cristek’s lines of 55302, MOTS, Stacking and Press-Fit PC Board connector systems are perhaps the best-kept secret of the product offering. The M55302/127 and /128 connectors were among Cristek’s original products offered in 1985.

These Cristek products all incorporate high reliability beryllium copper contacts and have closed entry mating to facilitate alignment and prevent overstress. These post and box style parts have been in use for nearly 3 decades and have proven their reliability and cost effectiveness over time.

Combining phase stability over flexure and temperature with the lowest insertion loss at high frequency these cables come up winners in the most demanding situations. For laboratory and test however, we recommend the nearly equivalent performance and lower cost “Labrador” series.

Labrador Ultra Performance Cable
The Labrador is a tremendously athletic, energetic, smart and breed of dog that adapts to nearly any situation. Labrador cables perform nearly as well as Greyhounds in most situations and are lowest cost. They should be the first choice for test and measurement applications but if phase stability over temperature and flex is required the Greyhound is the better selection.
