Developing the Black Opal 13.3” Full HD 1920×1080 multi-function Mil-Spec display

IPP, in conjunction with Laserdyne, is developing a Black Opal 13.3” Full HD 1920×1080 multi-function Mil-Spec display that comes fitted with an x86 Processor module and a ruggedised PCAP touch-screen, all designed for sustained operation at elevated temperatures. The internal processor can host customer-furnished applications (or GVA) software.

Here at IPP we believe in designing solutions for complex environments that suit multiple applications and providing through-life support to all products and designs.

Because it’s internal x86 hardware is built around modules, the display can be upgraded through it’s working life with the new processors, more RAM and a larger SSD. With surplus USB3 and USB2 inside the chassis to support any new and legacy accessories, the display supports future functional upgrades and has two USB 2 ports, one USB3 port, one serial port, 1 PC audio port and one 1GigE port exposed on the side connector panel.

Black Opal Display Systems are designed to comply with MIL-STD-810G for Environmental Survival and MIL-STD-461F for Conducted and Radiated emission compliance. For Airborne applications and transportation, a pressure safety valve ensures safe operation beyond 15,000ft altitude. A dedicated sun shield on the rear supports’ operation in exposed locations, whereas a lower mass simplified fan cowl option supports non-exposed operation.
