OPTICAL ENCODERS
The JE Series Optical Encoder has been developed for customers who require
switches that are more reliable and longer lasting than conventional switches
and potentiometers, and are capable of producing digital signals compatible
with most commonly used integrated circuit technologies. Advanced optical
switching technology uses no mechanical contacts, reducing noise and eliminating
contact bounce.
An important advantage of the JE encoder is its compliance to the applicable
environmental requirements of MIL-DTL-3786 and MIL-STD-2O2. This is unique
for the switch industry and provides a great fit for critical applications,
such as in aerospace, military, medical devices and industrial process controls.
The standard JE can be easily modified to meet variables in customer specifications,
such as rotational torque, push force, shaft travel, supply voltage, type
of termination, and more.
The JE1 features single rotary, or dual mode rotary, and pushbutton
actions. The most popular application of the dual mode encoder is to produce
"SCROLL & SELECT" functions for many different types of display
screens, including CRT and LCD. The JE1 Series encoder is commonly used
with an interface chip to provide "STEP BY STEP" input for setting
radio volume or frequency, drill depth, RPM, etc.
The JE2 Series Optical Encoder is a concentric shaft, dual channel
unit, available in any combination of 16, 24 or 32 detent positions on each
deck. There are a variety of standard options available, including an integral
pushbutton switch, solder lug or pin terminals, shaft and panel seals. The
modular design of the optical encoder section makes it easy to combine with
the Janco 13M Series Rotary Switches and/or PB Series Potentiometers in
a compact ø 5/8" (0.625") package which still meets the
applicable environmental requirements of MtL-DTL-3786/1 3 and MIL-STD-202.
This design flexibility enables Janco to build a variety of multifunctional
control units per custom specifications With significant reduction of both
lead time and cost, commonly associated with this technology, While saving
valuable space in overpopulated instrument panels.
The JEH Series Optical Encoder is a High Resolution Motion Control
Device (MCD), usable both for manual input of data as well as a peripheral
MCD capable of direct driving TTL loads. It comes with a variety of standard
options, including ball bearings for high speed applications (up to 7,500
RPM), shaft & panel seals and pin or cable-connector termination.
The JET Series is a Thumbwheel Optical Encoder - an innovative step
toward implementing the ergonomics of an office PC into the harsh cockpit
environment of the modern helicopter or plane. This "SLOT-TO-FIT"
design package simplifies installation and when an application requires,
the front surface can be "BLENDED" with the curvature of any grip,
panel or other control unit. |
